What Are Broadband Phones?

Phones that use Voice Over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, are generally referred to as broadband phones. The major function of such phones is converting analog voice data into digital data so it can be transmitted over the Internet. The phones link to high-speed Internet connections via computers that enable voice communications. Broadband phones have transformed the Internet into a technology that can provide telephone calls for free by avoiding traditional phone service providers.

VoIP phone technology has the capability of changing the way people talk to one another around the world. VoIP service providers are growing by leaps and bounds, and major phone firms are establishing a presence in markets worldwide by offering calling plans that have bundled VoIP broadband phones with their other services. The Federal Communications Commission and other regulators around the world have started to investigate the new technology and study the impact and future risks associated with it.

The VoIP phone looks just like a traditional phone. While a regular phone connects to the wall socket with an RJ-11 connector, a broadband phone connects to a computer or router using an RJ-45 connector. All broadband phones come with software pre-loaded to handle IP calls. In a recent innovation, Wi-Fi VoIP broadband phones have become available. These phones can make calls via any Wi-Fi hotspot. VoIP can also use ATA sets, which are telephone-like boxes that connect to a computer and convert analog voice data to digital signals. VoIP can connect calls made from one computer to another computer as well. This means users only pay for the Internet connection and not for the call itself. VoIP phones are dedicated devices and can be used only for making calls using this technology, however. To get a taste of what is available in a VoIP phone, users can check out the latest version of Yahoo Messenger, which is voice-enabled. It can be used to make computer-to-computer calls, and it is very easy. Another place to check is www.skype.com.

Long-distance callers may be making VoIP calls involuntarily using their VoIP phones and paying regular costs. This is because most phone firms around the world want to reduce their bandwidth by routing some calls through circuit switches to an IP gateway.

Experts predict that all the existing phone technology that currently uses circuit-switched networks will be replaced by packet-switching technology. VoIP offers financial and infrastructure efficiencies, costs less, and is more effective. Broadband phones are used by most corporations, and it only a matter of time before they are commonly used in individual households. VoIP phones can be used to call anywhere in the world that has a broadband Internet connection. VoIP firms offer rate plans similar to those of cell phone companies for individuals who want only VoIP broadband phones, usually $30 to $80 per month. Users can take their phones anywhere or use a laptop computer to make PC-to-PC calls.

Flatscreen Monitors: Whats So Great About Them?

Flatscreen Monitors: Whats So Great About Them?

See that square device sitting in front of you? That is your computer monitor. It is big, bulky, generates a lot of heat, uses a lot of energy, and according to some experts, is not very safe. Most of us use an anti-radiation glass on the old style screen to keep any harmful radiation in check. Those kinds of measure are not necessary with the newer types of flat monitors.

The screen that we have become used to, are nothing more than televisions, based on cathode ray tube technology. They take up space and are not very efficient. Fortunately, there is a much better alternative.

Flat computer monitors are now available that can make your computing life much easier and better. These screens are much smaller, use less electricity, and are easier on the eyes. Some flat screens still use the CRT system of delivering to you the picture. However, they are much more efficient and friendly than the traditional types.

Other flat screens use the LCD technology. These screens never really need a screensaver because they do not burn the image on to the screen. They are lightweight and provide good resolution in all levels of ambient light that you are used to working in. You will find the LCD type flat screens on most notebook and laptop computers.

I personally find the quality of the flat computer monitors much better that the best of the old style screens. The colors seem to be more realistic and the depth of the graphics is better.

Probably the greatest advantage of flat screens is that you can buy a larger screen without it taking up so much room on you desk or table. The size of the flat screens from front to back is minimal especially if you buy the newer technology versions. It is very common now for a person to use a seventeen-inch or larger size of one of the newer flat screens. However, sizes can go as large as forty inches. These are great for businesses, particularly presentations and tele-conferencing. Even for personal use, the larger flat screens bring a new experience to working on your computer. You can simply see things better.

All of the major electronics manufacturers are making flat computer screens now. Prices have come down dramatically in the last few years. One other reason that users like these is that they are much more reliable than the old style CRT screens

Whenever a company faces problems with its information technology systems it needs to have had an arrangement with an IT support service company that will provide them with professional solutions that will help in reducing the costs of supporting various hardware as well as software environments across the enterprise. Most IT support service companies have a comprehensive portfolio of services that they provide to the customer no matter what size and type.

Using the services of an IT support service company will help in greatly simplifying the support accountability of your hardware and software platforms as well as providing you with rapid response to your problems around the clock, as well as throughout the United Kingdom. There should also be flexibility in the type of service provided so that it meets all of the customer's needs. Furthermore, the better IT support services that are available in the United Kingdom should provide a range of services that go beyond your standard product support and should incorporate deployment services that will help reduce risks for installation as well as startups, and should provide for implementation as well as integration of the IT systems as well.

The advantage of using an IT support service is that it provides the customer with availability services that will help the client proactively lessen the downtime as well as adequately address service-level commitments. It should also mean getting performance services that means getting objective technical assistance that will safeguard the investment you have made with regard to your information technology systems.

Information technology support services may be defined as the service that permits a representative to assist a computer as well as network services even when they are not available at the client's location because the client may not be having a full time person to install as well as maintain the information technology systems on site. In today's fast- paced information technology world, the need to have computers running without a break in service is crucial and the need to have a contract with an information technology support service company is very high as well as recommended.

It is essential for a client to meet his/her specific support and maintenance requirements throughout the life of the information technology systems and thus must enter into a contract with a reliable IT support services company. On the other hand, the information technology support service companies must have suitable IT support service plans to meet the varying needs of their clients. The IT support service plans must also be cost-effective and provide timely access to online support services as well as to other software maintenance support services, if required.

It is not unusual for IT support service companies to offer different support plans which target the varying needs of its different customers and whose business operations as well as applications are totally dependent on proper working of the IT systems installed therein. A fast response time is of the essence as well.

Virus Scanner

The Important Needs of a Virus Scanner

Having a reliable virus scanner on your computer is a necessity if you use the internet at all. There are so many viruses and forms of spyware out there that it can be difficult to keep up with them. Having anti virus software on your computer and updating every single day is the best way to protect your computer and the information it holds.

There are many websites out there where you can find a virus scanner but it is imperative that you only download programs from extremely reliable sites. Many forms of spyware and viruses disguise themselves as harmless so that they can infiltrate your computer. I have seen viruses that attempt to enter your computer by popping up as an ad telling you that your computer is infected.

There are popups that will claim that they can scan your computer for viruses and even destroy any that they may find. You must be careful not to ever click on one of these popups. Once you click on the window, you have opened your computer to a virus and possibly spyware. The best advice possible is to never click on a popup ad. There is just no way of knowing for sure what you may be getting yourself and your computer into.

If you want to get a virus scanner for your computer, you should go to a respected website. Be wary of any software that you have never heard of. It is always a good idea to go with who and what you know and if you don't know anything about a particular website or its downloads, avoid them at all costs.

I have McAfee virus scanner on my computer and it has never failed me. I have it programmed to update itself every day in order to ensure the protection of my computer. McAfee virus scanner is a well-known and highly respected program and I highly recommend it. An acquaintance of mine is the information technology director for his city and he trusts McAfee virus scanner to protect all of the computers under his watch. As far as recommendations go, how could I argue with that one?

Remember that although it is important to have a working and updated virus scanner watching over your computer at all times, where you get the virus scanner is equally if not more important. Be very skeptical of everything on the internet. There is so much junk out there and an endless supply of hackers, virus makers, and garden variety jerks that you must be vigilant when it comes to keeping your computer out of harm's way.

Bluetooth Technology

How Bluetooth Technology Has Changed The Way We Communicate

The advances in technology in the past century have been extraordinary. From simple local communication abilities, to global, the world has been taking great strides in making technology a part of your daily life. The last few years have brought forth some truly unique technology, with the amount of wireless capabilities and products.

Bluetooth technology is by far at the front of the technological train. Bluetooth has changed the way we talk to people on phones from where we work. Some new products from Bluetooth have proved unique in that there are few like them.

Cell phones with bluetooth technology are completely wireless and compatible with your computer, PDA, Mp3 player, and now navigational system in your car. You no longer have to hold a phone and drive; the Bluetooth has allowed the phone to stay in your pocket as the car kit and phone become voice activated. If you would like to call someone you can simply speak the name and the phone will dial. You have the option of an earpiece and microphone or a system routed through your vehicles radio system. Whichever you choose this technology is sure to make talking on the phone much safer if you are driving.

Another interesting new technology with Bluetooth technology is the digital pen. The digital pen works with digital paper, writing just as you would with normal pens. You can simply write in your own handwriting on the digital paper and then place the pen in its home by your computer. The computer will upload the images from the pen right on to your computer. These pens may prove very handy for artists who would like to preserve some of the ideas they have without having to mess with a copier and scanner. The digital pen will also be useful for signature pages, you will not have to print and sign anymore, and you can sign the digital paper and upload on your computer with a touch of a button.

For navigational purposes there is nothing like the new product TomTom. This product has Bluetooth technology to give the most accurate directions available. With satellite navigation, it is currently in use in both Europe and North America. You can speak to the navigational system asking for directions to wherever you are going and TomTom will guide the way. No more time spent driving around lost or skipping the scenic route due to the chances of becoming lost. TomTom is so simple to use even a small child can operate it and get directions.

When you are in the market for new unique technological products Bluetooth has many to choose from. The advancement of wireless services is making life easier and more products accessible to people around the world.

Free Online Computer Courses

Learn to Use Computers with Free Online Computer Courses

People who lack computer skills are not dumb or slow learners, so let's get that out of the way before I go any further. Although computers are literally everywhere these days, there is still an outstanding number of folks who are computer illiterate, but why is that? Well, it's quite simple really. Firstly, the technology has advanced so quickly over the years that unless you are in an environment where you are forced into using this technology, there's little chance of keeping up with it except if you're what's often described to as a 'computer geek! There are lots of free Online Computer Courses around these days to get folks going, but many still chose to shy away from learning. Let's take a look at why.

Whether you're a Mom, dad, worker or any one of millions of others who do not have compulsory exposure to computers on a regular basis, there's a very good chance you are not getting experience with these machines. Sure, most households have a personal computer (PC) these days, but it's usually for the benefit of the kids enjoyment and schooling.

As technology evolves at an alarming pace, it may seem to some that they have been left behind with no chance of ever getting up to speed with a PC, but fear not! Free Online Computer Courses can help you to catch up at your own pace, in your own home, and at times that are convenient to you. Let me tell you something here; computers are stupid! You have to tell them what to do or they won't do it. This means that all you have to learn is how to tap a few keys, hit a couple of menus, and learn a little bit of the jargon. That's it, you're fit to go.

Another great thing about leaning computer skills is that there is usually at least 3 ways to do the same thing, so if you forget one way, there's always another to fall back on. Honestly folks, basic computer skills really are a benefit. Learning the fundamentals on how to use a computer really can make your life easier. You can shop online, find holidays, homes, dates, and all the other stuff found on the net, but you can also do the household accounts on a simple spreadsheet program, send and receive emails, design, plan, and even plot if that's your poison. In fact the virtual world has few limits.

Just think about if for a second: Free Online Computer Courses, what does that mean? Simply put it means you are going to have to sit at a computer, go onto a website and allow that site to guide you through some simple steps on how to use the technological tool in front of you. Who would have thought that a computer would be teaching you how to use a computer! Freaky eh! But it works, that's for sure.

Once you get a grip of the basics you may well be wondering what all the fuss was about and go onto to advance your skills. Hey, who knows, if you're a parent, you may end up teaching the kids a thing or two, and if you're just someone who got left behind in the technological revolution, you will never again have to feel excluded in conversations among your peers as they rabble on about emails, Word documents, and spreadsheets.

Go on, give it a go! Get someone to find you a couple of good Free Online Computer Courses, and get cracking. You'll be glad you did.

LCD Monitors For The Home and Office

LCD Monitors For The Home and Office

Technology such as LCD Monitors covered in this article are rapidly changing our world in many ways and becoming more affordable for the average person. It's worth mentioning however that better technology is actually properly defined as simply a better way of doing something we already do with whatever process we have at hand. Rather than thinking of better technology in terms of computers, hi tech gadgets and such, for example anytime we find a way to get to work 5mins faster than before we have found a better technology to improve our lives in some respect.

I spend eight hours every day at my computer because that is what I do for a living. Honestly it would not be possible without my using the latest in technology breakthroughs; one of the new LCD computer monitors.

The old style computer monitors are based on cathode ray tube technology that has been around for more than fifty years. There have been some improvements but nothing can compare to the new LCD computer monitors. The screen is flat and thin, taking up almost no space on my desk. There is virtually no heat generated by the LCD computer monitors. Energy consumption is low and the picture display quality is fantastic.

The colors of the LCD computer monitors are real. That is the only way I can describe it. In addition, another advantage I like is that there is no glare from a glass screen. Lights can be on all around you and it does not decrease the quality of the display. Of course, you never need to use one of those anti-radiation panels with the LCD computer monitors.

One downside is that you never need to use a screensaver with an LCD computer monitor. The image is never burned on the monitor so a screensaver becomes something for fun and not to save your monitor.

The reliability of LCD computer monitors is much greater than with the CRT types. The technology is relatively simple, with fewer parts to fail. LCD computer monitors are truly 'computer' monitors in that a chip controls the picture and not electronic beams hitting a glass screen.

**Running Commentary** - Its interesting to note at this point that the cost of LCD Monitors is going to range in price quite a bit and you really need to first identify your needs and wants and when you go shopping make sure you don't overspend for features you want but don't really need. As technology so quickly becomes obsolete 1. many of the features will become obsolete 2. later models will be cheaper if not superseded by a later model with newer features and 3. are you going to actually have time to read the whole manual and understand how all the features work ? (I know I never figure out all the features of any new gadget or gizmo I buy)

I think that they are safer also. With virtually no electrical wiring and other big electrical components, the idea that it could explode is not going to happen. I know that is probably just my imagination, but you can never tell.

All the major electronic manufacturers make their own version of LCD computer monitors so there is good price competition. That means LCD computer monitors are much more affordable than they used to be. There is really no excuse for not upgrading to a better, more efficient, and more useful computer monitor.

The size of your computer monitor might be a factor in your choice to buy. LCD computer monitors come in the traditional desktop size but are available as large as forty inches or more. This is great for a business that needs to give presentations to larger groups and for tele-conferencing. Everybody can see a quality large picture.

The technology of LCD computer monitors also means that there are fewer things to go wrong and that they will last longer than what you are probably using now.

To wrap up our article about LCD Monitors I wish you luck in putting your new technology to use in your home/work life. In the last 20 years I have seen so many examples of new technology come and go I can't help feeling excited about what I'm going to see in the next 20 years. Although many people seem to feel a sense of foreboding about new things changing their lives in a negative way I must confess that I don't have this fear at all (at the ripe old age of 40 anyway). I understand that new and changing technology is not only inevitable but in fact is opening up more opportunities for us all than ever before in our history and we should only feel threatened if we choose to cling to the past and somehow expect the rest of the world around us to do the same.
